What is Included in a Construction Clean?

construction cleaning

Construction cleaning can include not only new home construction but also renovation cleaning.
In the case of a new build, the construction cleaning process is divided into three stages.
Depending on the scope of your project and the contract you have with your builder, you may not require all of these services performed.

Initial or Rough Clean

This does not imply that we are cleaning in a rough manner at this point, but rather that it is a preparatory clean. This part of the construction cleaning procedure  is carried out prior to the installation floor coverings and painting.

  • Sweeping, vacuuming and prepping flooring
  • Window cleaning (interior)
  • Thorough dusting of all surfaces

Final Cleaning

Following the installation of the floors and painting of the walls, a more thorough and detailed interior cleaning is required.

The specifics of this type of cleaning differ greatly from one room to the next.

Cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, and countertops, for example, all require specialised care in kitchens and bathrooms.

However, a thorough final interior cleaning should always include the following tasks:

Final Exterior Cleaning

This is the most demanding after builders cleaning task. Major renovation works and new builds generate a huge mess both inside and outside the building. This final exterior cleaning work helps removing trash and preparing the stage for landscaping works. Here are the main stages of a final exterior cleaning job:

  • Removal of all trash (debris and lumber included)
  • Removal of protective film from glass panes
  • Cleaning of exterior windows and doors (including removal of concrete from frames)
  • Sweeping of entry doorways
  • Power washing of the driveway and pavers
  • Cleaning of hard surfaces around the house
  • Dusting or wiping of exterior light fixtures.
